Pearls are the chosen medium of artist Liza Lou, who was born in New York in 1969. Over the last decade, she has made replicas of everyday rooms and spaces with colourful, glistening pearls and sequins. The exhibition in the museum kunst palast includes Liza Lou's two large-format main works: "Kitchen" (1991-95) and "Back Yard" (1995-97). Liza Lou's sensitive use of materials transforms reality into an enchanted world, although her works can also be seen as a commentary on the "American Dream" of a perfect world in middle-class society.
