The endless enigma – Dalí and the magicians of multiple meaning
|
The exhibition will commence and be devoted to the subject of ambiguity in art – a phenomenon spanning epochs and continents. A selection of around 250 works attest to the fantastic ways of artificially playing with human perception, as can be traced throughout all cultures from the late eleventh century until today. Thus the exhibition features not only works by artists such as Giuseppe Arcimboldo, Max Ernst, M.C. Escher, René Magritte, Sigmar Polke, Man Ray, Markus Raetz, André Thomkins, but also less well-known artists from China, India, Persia and Africa.
