Zomerexpositie

Over de expositie

During the Summer months, Xavier Hufkens is presenting an «Accrochage» with works that refer to ordinary objects in very different ways. Richard Artschwager, a furniture maker in a former life, is included in the exhibition with a real chair and a real, large cross. Jean-Marc Bustamante is present with “Aquarama II”, an abstract sculpture, which is undeniably inspired by a large aquarium. He will also be showing a “Panorama” and an “Aérogramme”, two mural works in plexi glass that simultaneously evoke a painting, a window and a mirror. The selected “chariots” by Didier Vermeiren, on the contrary, are purely abstract sculptures that, through the form of the wheels, suggest the idea of movement. “In My Mind”, a series of four photographic works by Jan Vercruysse, represent a table, a female nude and a number of wooden toy horses in different constellations. These objects, including the nude, seem to have lost their relationship with the real world and function as rhetorical elements in a melancholic still-life, which clearly has a symbolic code but which the spectator is unable to understand.

After the huge success of his installation “Location (5)” at Art Basel Unlimited, Hans Op de Beeck will be showing a number of older photographs, new sculptures and –drawings on the second floor of the gallery.

Please, note the gallery will be closed from 20 July to 16 August.
