Picture a ball of rancid blueberry sorbet spinning in a static waffled cone that is dusted with cinnamon. Oh! And now, look, a willow leaf of an eel is emerging from the sorbet and now is winding up and around the cone and there, now it croons in a cradle in a crack in the crest.
So, here's the deal: I was that eel...stumbling around that conical pedestal...
I, in my photonic toga, was time personified.
Here, may I present; A folded earth.
The energy of one equinox teletransported to the other.

Galerie Martin van Zomeren is pleased to present Adam Avikainen's show SARAKURA. Upon graduating on 2007 from De Ateliers in Amsterdam, this is his first solo presentation in the Netherlands. Avikainen's recent solo exhibitions include IJOUBU, Center for Contemporary Art, Kitakyushu, Japan (2008) and Loyly Ikebana, Monitor Gallery, Rome (2006).
Group exhibitions include Just in Time at the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam (2006). Collections include Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, De Nederlandsche Bank and several private European collections.
