Vervaet’s sculptures have titles such has ‘Black Forest’ or ‘The Return of Pan’, ‘Fir’, ‘Still life with dogs’, ‘Eden’. The works are evoking an immanent atmosphere of menace in despite of their innocent and even cheerful appearance. Dark “German” woods, aerolites, craters are referring to “nationalistic ideas” witch we find in the recent political history of Europe: an idyllic but a not existing world, an history not at all idealistic but of hidden horror. An innocent paradise, which will vanish suddenly by a catastrophe, or a disaster.
Forever happy but not for long time.
“THE RETURN OF PAN “ is placed on a trailer.
The visitor has to climb through a hole and is confronted with a big crater.
