Judith de Vries constructs vessels with layers of porcelain that are colored in delicate tones in such a way that they contrast or melt with the material. Manita Kieft’s work shows how porcelain can be used to create objects that can be used or are decorative. Claire Verkoyen uses forms from China as the canvass of her prints and reaches dimensions beyond the normal vase-like height. Yuk-Kan Yueng uses plates of porcelain to construct her vessels and objects in such a way that her Chinese roots are explicitly present.
Their works are in contrast or harmony with the work of Piet
Stockmans, who shows next to his Stockman blue vessels new
colors in his work.
All works reflect the delicate structure of the material but also the possibilities and the variation that is possible with porcelain.
