Energy is temporarily visible and constantly transforming in new appearances and patterns which Lore Vanelslande translates in her drawings and paintings, reminding the work of Agnes Martin or Emma Kunz.
Lore Vanelslande graduated at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Ghent, Belgium, with honours, in June 2007. The artist lives in Shangai and Ghent.Els Vanden Meersch (1970, NINOVE, BELGIUM)
Els Vanden Meersch sees her photographs, sculptures and installations as psychological portraits where the memory of architecture plays a central role:
for Els Vanden Meersch architecture is memory’s proving ground. The works of Els Vanden Meersch are “psychotopologies”: abandoned buildings like military complexes, factories, apartment buildings, are pregnant with a latent violence that can be associated with repression and failed ideologies drawn from recent history.
In 2010 Els Vanden Meersch traveled to the ghost villages in Turkish Kurdistan. This resulted in a series of photo works and installations called“Hosgeldiniz/Xwesh hatin/Welcome”. Also in her current project 'Mastering the curtains' (Iran), Els Vanden Meersch investigates the relationship between architecture and political propaganda / anti propaganda mechanisms.
