The Antwerp-based artist Hugo Roelandt (1950–2015) was a long-time tutor in photography at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp. In memory of his commitment to teaching at the Academy, he generously endowed a fund to enable the annual award of a Prize to one or two graduates from the Academy’s photography, sculpture, in situ, graphics and costume design MA programmes. In its first year, the Hugo Roelandt Prize was awarded equally to Fabio Ramirez Enrique (cash award) and to Panagiotis Profitis (exhibition award). In 2016, the jury was composed of Marc Holthof, Antony Hudek, Lydia Van Loock and Johan Pas.
